Because, as Random said, not everyone plays with buildcraft. I hate buildcraft myself, and tend to avoid it, so i dont have the same pipes. I may like thermal expansion, but not everyone else may use it, and wont have the same pipes.
Golems are always good to have. You could set a Wood golem to a chest then place a Magic Mirror close to it which you then link to a Magical Hand Mirror. As long as that area is chunk loaded you can teleport items through your mirror and to the wood golem no matter where you are, it even works cross dimension. To add on to this if you have http://ae2.ae-mod.info/ You can hook the chest that your golem is bound to into your network and have everything your golem places in the chest transported into the ME Drive. This pretty much lets you keep mining indefinately without worrying about storage space (assuming you have 16k or 64k storage cards in your ME Drive)
Dear Pyrolord, could you please tell me what modpack you are using? (im lookimg for a modpack to play)
Sorry for the late reply but currently playing Direwolf20 for 1.6.4. Some of it's mods include Applied Energistics (the mod I mentioned), Thaumcraft 4(kami included), Witchery, Ars Magica, Morph, and many others. Previously played FTB Monster which included AE, Extra Cells (an addon for AE that lets you store almost any liquid in your computer note that essence isn't a true liquid), Lycanites(lots of new monsters), Thaumcraft 4, roguelike dungeons, chisel(lets you craft a chisel which has a large variety of patterns for wood, dirt, iron, obsidian, diamonds, etc), and meteorcraft which you might want to disable unless you want your house to be destroyed by a stray meteor. Both modpacks have lots more components than I mentioned but those are the main aspects of each that I used
